Helping Children Thrive in Everyday Life

Occupational therapy helps children build the foundational skills they need to participate in daily life with confidence.

In childhood, “occupations” are the meaningful activities that shape everyday experiences—getting dressed, climbing at the playground, holding a pencil, cutting with scissors, or learning to tie shoes. When these moments feel difficult or frustrating, occupational therapy provides thoughtful support.

Some children come to therapy with diagnoses such as Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, or Down Syndrome, while others simply benefit from additional support in specific areas of development.

Through a play-based and relationship-centered approach, pediatric occupational therapy supports motor development, sensory processing, and emotional regulation—helping children feel more capable in their bodies and more confident participating in the world around them.

Common Questions

  • Every child develops at their own pace, but sometimes daily activities feel more challenging than expected. Occupational therapy can help when children need additional support with the skills that shape everyday life.

Your child may benefit from occupational therapy if they:

    • Avoid or struggle with fine motor tasks like writing, coloring, or using scissors
    • Seem unusually sensitive to sounds, textures, clothing, or movement
    • Have difficulty with coordination, balance, or body awareness
    • Become easily overwhelmed by transitions or changes in routine
    • Struggle with self-care tasks like dressing, feeding, or brushing teeth
    • Have challenges with focus, regulation, or frustration tolerance

If something in your child’s daily routines feels harder than it should, occupational therapy can help build the skills and confidence needed to participate more comfortably in everyday life.

  • At Clementine Pediatric Therapy, care is individualized and rooted in the understanding that development is interconnected. Therapy may focus on supporting:

Helping children understand and respond to sensory input so they can feel calm, organized, and ready to participate.

    Fine Motor & Hand Skills
Developing the strength, coordination, and control needed for writing, drawing, cutting, and everyday hand tasks.

    Visual-Motor Integration
Supporting the coordination between the eyes and hands necessary for school and play activities.

    Motor Planning & Coordination
Helping children learn how to plan, sequence, and carry out movements with greater ease.

    Daily Living Skills
Building independence in routines such as dressing, feeding, grooming, and other everyday activities.

  • Clementine Pediatric Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not participate directly with insurance plans. This allows therapy sessions to be fully tailored to your child’s individual needs without the limitations often required by insurance companies.

Many families use HSA or FSA funds for services. Upon request, we can also provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Fees vary depending on the type of service provided (evaluations, therapy sessions, or consultations). A full list of fees will be shared prior to scheduling so families can make informed decisions. We are also happy to review pricing and answer any questions during the introductory call.

Sessions are play-based and relationship-centered, allowing children to build skills in a way that feels natural and motivating. Activities are thoughtfully selected to strengthen developmental foundations while helping children feel successful and confident.

Parents are an important part of the process. Throughout therapy, families receive guidance and practical strategies to support their child’s progress at home and in daily routines.

Our goal is not only skill development, but helping children feel more comfortable in their bodies, more capable in their environments, and more confident navigating the world around them.

  • Yes. Parent collaboration is an important part of the therapy process. We regularly share updates, strategies, and recommendations to help support your child’s progress at home and in school.
